BRUGES Le tribunal correctionnel de Bruges a condamné, mardi, un homme de 37 ans d'Assebroek, près de Bruges, à dix ans de prison, dix ans de privation de droits et dix ans de mise à la disposition du gouvernement, pour le viol de ses deux filles mineures et la production de films pédo-pornographiques qu'il revendait.

À la suite de cette affaire, 2.500 utilisateurs de matériel pédo-pornographique avaient été identifiés dans 19 pays. L'action internationale d'identification des pédophiles présumés portait le nom de Koala. Selon le ministère public, le Brugeois était au coeur de ce trafic de matériel pédo-pornographique. La femme du Brugeois a écopé de deux ans de prison avec sursis pour négligence. Selon le tribunal, elle aurait dû avoir des soupçons sur ce qui se déroulait. Elle n'a pas aidé ses fillettes et les a même envoyées dans un camp aux Pays-Bas alors qu'elle savait ce qui les attendait. Elle a bénéficié d'un sursis à condition qu'elle soit suivie pour l'éducation de ses enfants.

Les faits pour lesquels l'homme a été condamné remontent à la période 2004-2006. Deux fillettes de 9 et 11 ans ont été impliquées. Des fillettes qui venaient jouer avec les filles du Brugeois ont aussi été abusées. Le Brugeois est incarcéré depuis juillet 2006. Le tribunal a qualifié les faits d'extrêmement graves. L'argent que l'homme a reçu lors de son trafic, soit 3.200 euros, sera reversé à ses filles. Il devra verser des dommages et intérêts aux petites victimes. La somme sera vraisemblablement de plusieurs dizaines de milliers d'euros. L'arrestation du Brugeois a conduit à des milliers d'interpellations dans 19 pays. En Belgique, plusieurs suspects ont été identifiés dont Me Hissel.

 

Un père de famille impliqué dans une affaire de pédopornographie - lun 18 fév

Verdict attendu ce mardi dans le procès d'un Belge accusé d'avoir fait tourner ses deux filles de 9 et 11 ans dans des films pornographiques à caractère pédophile, affaire révélée lors d'un vaste coup de filet en Europe et en Australie en 2007.

C'est aussi dans le cadre de cette opération, baptisée "Koala", que l'avocat Victor Hissel, qui avait défendu les familles de Julie Lejeune et Melissa Russo, deux petites victimes du pédophile meurtrier belge Marc Dutroux, a été inculpé pour détention de matériel pornographique à caractère pédophile, a indiqué lundi le parquet de Liège (est). L'opération de police Koala contre les milieux pédophiles avait visé en novembre 2.500 personnes dans un grand nombre de pays européens et en Australie.

L'enquête avait démarré en 2006 à la suite de la découverte sur une cassette pédophile d'une fillette parlant néerlandais. Elle avait mené à l'arrestation de l'auteur présumé des abus, un habitant de la région de Bruges qui n'était autre que le père de la fillette. L'homme, Pascal T., un enseignant de 37 ans, avait aménagé chez lui un studio où il filmait ce qu'il faisait subir à ses deux filles. Ces images étaient distribuées par un Italien, dont l'arrestation l'automne dernier a permis l'interpellation de dizaines d'autres personnes. Devant le tribunal correctionnel de Bruges, le parquet a requis à la mi-janvier 10 ans de prison pour viols et appartenance à une association de malfaiteur contre le père et deux ans de prison pour non assistance à personnes en danger contre sa femme.

L'enquête se poursuit pour déterminer si Me Hissel est impliqué dans la diffusion de ce matériel pédophile.

Federal officials said Friday they had broken up an international child pornography ring, headquartered in Fresno County, in which parents molested their own children and traded pictures of that activity over the Internet.

The full scope of the child sex operation, under investigation since November, was made public for the first time when the U.S. attorney's office in Fresno unsealed a 16-page federal indictment that lists 15 of the suspects and details some of their activities.

Meanwhile, U.S. Customs Director Robert Bonner held a press conference in Washington and said the case was one of the most disturbing he had encountered in his career.

"These crimes are beyond the pale," Bonner said. "They are despicable and repugnant. . . . What is particularly disturbing is that the majority of the people who have been charged were actually the parents, who were sexually exploiting their own children."

The activities involved 45 children around the world, including 37 in the U. S. Eighty percent of the victims were molested by their own parents, according to U.S. Customs officials who investigated the case. The children have been placed in foster care or with another parent or relative.

The indictment says the defendants, who referred to each other as members of "the Club," would message each other on the Internet and ask for pictures of children engaged in "sexually explicit activity." In one example, cited at the end of the indictment, Lloyd Alan Emmerson, a Fresno chiropractor who, prosecutors say, was the central figure in the operation, asked his Danish friend Eggert Jensen for "an audio tape of a minor child (in Jensen's custody) so that . . . Emmerson could hear the child crying while the child was being spanked and otherwise abused."

10 AMERICANS ARRESTED

Emmerson, who is 45, was one of the primary organizers of the group's picture-taking and -sharing activities. He is one of 10 Americans arrested during a joint investigation, dubbed "Operation Hamlet," that involved the Customs office, the Danish National Police, Interpol, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and a number of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in California and 10 other states.

Ten other suspects were arrested in Denmark, Belgium, Germany, England, Switzerland and the Netherlands. One of the American suspects, Sean Bradley, who was arrested in Reno, committed suicide after police raided his house and before he could be formally charged with molesting several children.

According to the indictment, in addition to Emmerson, the ring's members included Paul Whitmore, 43, and Brooke Rowland, 41, both of San Diego.

Participating outside California were Tracy Reynolds, 40, of Texas; Leslie Bowcut, 28, Idaho; Michael Harland, 42, Florida; Harry Tschernetzki, 41, Washington; John Zill, 36, South Carolina; Craig Davidson, age unknown, Kansas;

Eggert Jensen, 44, and Bente Jensen, 34, Denmark; and Jean-Michael Francis Cattin, 36, Marcel Egli, 47, Dirk Van Prins, age unknown, and Peter Althaus, 63, all of Switzerland.

All the Americans named in the indictment are in federal custody. The 10 suspects from other countries were arrested abroad, but it was not clear Friday how many, if any, are in custody. Authorities said more arrests in the United States are anticipated.

 

TIP FROM DANISH AUTHORITIES

Assistant U.S. Attorney Jon Conklin in Fresno said the investigation of Emmerson began after local authorities were tipped to his activities by the Danish National Police.

Investigators in Denmark had arrested a couple who had taken sexually suggestive pictures of themselves with their own children and sent them out to associates over the Internet. One of those who received copies of the lurid photos was Emmerson.

"That's where the case got started -- with the referral from the DNP," Conklin said.

Based on the early leads that trickled in after Emmerson's arrest in January, investigators worked intensely on the case.

Detective John Weaver of the Clovis Police Department, the investigator who did much of the original work developing the case against Emmerson, said Friday that the chiropractor had saved computer files on virtually all of the materials generated by the ring. When the machine was seized, it proved a treasure trove of evidence against Emmerson and other alleged members of the ring, Weaver said. Clovis is a suburb of Fresno.

 

A MILLION IMAGES SEIZED

"We seized 40 CDs containing over a million images," Weaver said. "Some of the images we found were those of Mr. Emmerson engaged in sexual acts with children himself."

Weaver said the photos on the computer and the disks had allowed police to identify many of the children who had been victims of the ring. "Emmerson had 20 victims right here in Clovis alone," he said. 'We were able to identify them without any question as outright victims."

By May, investigators had scraped together enough evidence to arrest eight suspects in California, Idaho, Nevada, Texas and Washington on charges ranging from child molestation to sexual assault against a minor.

The indictment unsealed Friday says that the conspiracy apparently started in 1999.

Members kept in contact with each other by means of e-mails and Internet chat, although some of them did travel across state lines to make and distribute pictures of children engaged in sexual acts.

The group appears to have been motivated primarily by the sexual interests of its members and not by a desire for financial gain -- even though one alleged member in Idaho had a photography business that he used to produce pornographic images for his associates.

Conklin said that the members of the ring used computers to transmit the pornographic images of the children among themselves and that they discussed the production and distribution of the pictures during chat sessions on the Internet.

Two alleged members, Emmerson and Whitmore, even created a written code of conduct for their fellow "Club" participants "to follow when engaging in the sexual exploitation of children . . ."

At times members of "the Club" used porn images as personal greeting cards. For example, in one message sent in late 2001 or 2002, Cattin allegedly transmitted Emmerson a picture of a nude girl holding a sign that read, "Hello Lloyd."

Five more indicted in child porn ring

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) - Five more men have been indicted on charges of participating in an international child pornography ring that transmitted pictures of children in their care on the Internet.

The case is being prosecuted in U.S. District Court in Fresno because the lead defendant, Lloyd Alan Emmerson, is a chiropractor in neighboring Clovis.

With the new indictments, issued Thursday, a total of 20 people -- men and women -- across the United States and Europe have been charged with conspiring to sexually exploit children.

Charged in the new indictment were: Joseph Durborow, 41, of Orem, Utah; Edwin Bartholomew, 42, of Galion, Ohio; Daniel Boobar, 37, of Houston; James Lee, 42, of Frankfort, Ind.; and Trent Hariaczyi, 29, of Buffalo, N.Y.

If convicted, they face a minimum of 10 years in federal prison.

Clovis police began investigating after authorities in Denmark received a tip from a charity about a picture on the Internet of a child being molested.

Information found on a Danish couple's computer eventually led to Emmerson. Clovis police discovered more than 1 million images on 450 CDs in Emmerson's office, many with pictures of the children of his patients, relatives or neighbors.

Investigation into global paedo ring led to arrest in Westmeath

The massive operation, which resulted in the arrest of a man in Westmeath last week for supplying child pornography, began in Denmark six years ago.

Five men living in Mayo, Westmeath, Wicklow, Clare, and Galway were arrested on suspicion of being involved in child pornography. A 42-year-old Italian man living in Westmeath is now under investigation for supplying a large amount of child pornography, showing girls between nine and 16 years old on the internet.

According to reports, the investigation into the global paedophile ring, known as the ‘Fun Club’, started in Denmark with the arrest of chiropractor Dr Lloyd Alan Emmerson (45) who used the internet to show images of himself abusing his daughter. Emmerson, who was found to have half a million images including films of children, was sentenced to 30 years.

A man who shared images with Emmerson was Pascal Taveirne in Belgium who also shared images of himself abusing his daughters. It wasn’t until August of this year that he was arrested.

Marc Dutroux also benefitted from the poor conviction rate in Belgium despite abducting six girls and murdering four of them. Some of the images he made from the specially constructed dungeons under his house were posted onto sites such as Fun Club.

The most recent events which lead to the Irish raids began in Queensland, Australia, where nine men were arrested with a total of 188 offences of abuse and possession of images of child porn being confiscated. These images were sent to Interpol which lead to the term ‘Koala” for the EU-wide operation.

‘Koala’ then led to the arrest last August in Italy of 40-year-old Sergio Marzola. Italian police discovered that Marzola had made contact with Taveirne through the internet last year. Marzola was arrested on August 16 as he was about to emigrate to the Ukraine.

Marzola is currently being charged in relation to operating 30 internet sites intended for sale and exchange of paedophile images, including those of Taveirne’s daughters. A reported 23 girls have been taken into care as a result of the investigation.

Last month, Interpol and Europol distributed details of credit card payments by over 2,500 suspected peadophiles via the Zandvoort network, in which Marzola was involved. As a result of this five men were arrested last week by gardai, and computers, as well as other material, were seized.

Aveva Ferrara come centrale operativa ed era ferrarese il gestore di un incredibile quanto scandaloso traffico di pedopornografia. Grazie a una brillante operazione della Polizia di Stato nel campo della pedofilia on line è stato arrestato Sergio Marzola, quarantenne ferrarese, residente nel capoluogo estense, di professione webmaster.

Si tratta del primo arresto in Italia di un produttore su larga scala di materiale pedo-pornografico.

L’operazione, denominata “Video Child”, è stata portata a termine nella giornata di ieri 11 agosto 2006 dalla Squadra Mobile di Ferrara in collaborazione con il personale del Compartimento Polizia Postale e delle Comunicazioni di Bologna - Squadra Criminalità Informatica, unitamente a personale specializzato del Servizio Centrale Operativo della Polizia di Stato di Roma e del Servizio Cooperazione Internazionale – Interpol.

L’operazione, di enorme rilievo in campo internazionle, è stata pianificata e concordata in sede europea, nell’ambito di una riunione tenutasi a Lione alla quale hanno partecipato funzionari di Polizia di Belgio e Italia con la cooperazione di Interpol.

Ancora una volta le Forze dell’Ordine hanno avuto la conferma che le attività di prevenzione e repressione di questa tipologia di reato travalicano i limiti nazionali e solo la sinergia e la collaborazione con altri organi di polizia internazionale possono condurre a risultati validi nel contrasto all’uso criminale delle moderne tecnologie.

Le indagini coordinate dai sostituti procuratori della Repubblica presso il Tribunale di Ferrara, Nicola Proto e Filippo Di Benedetto, sono state rese possibili da sofisticate intercettazioni telefoniche e telematiche, ma anche da ininterrotti servizi di appostamento e pedinamento.

Preziosa è stata la collaborazione fornita dagli organi investigativi australiani che nel corso di una attività di repressione dei crimini relativi allo sfruttamento della pornografia minorile sono venuti in possesso, a seguito di sequestro, di alcuni video clip nei quali compaiono due bambine, di 9 e 10 anni, ripetutamente oggetto di abusi da parte di un uomo che le stesse chiamano “papà” in una delle riprese.

Gli inquirenti australiani riconoscono, da un attenta analisi delle tracce audio dei filmati, che la lingua parlata dalle protagoniste dei filmati sessuali è un dialetto “fiammingo” e decidono di inviare, utilizzando il canale “Interpol”, questi filmati all’autorità belga che individua le generalità della ragazza “bionda” chiamata nei filmati “Daphne” la quale, suo malgrado, risulta figlia di Pascal Taveirne, persona già nota in Belgio perché già oggetto di una precedente indagine denominata “Hamlet” riconducibile sempre al fenomeno della pedopornografia.

Pascal Taverne viene tratto in arresto nel mese di luglio 2006 per i ripetuti abusi sessuali delle due figlie, entrambe con gravi problemi psichici. Negli atti consegnati dal Belgio alla Polizia di Stato italiana, vi sono elementi indizianti a carico di un cittadino italiano originario di Ferrara.

Le indagini della locale Squadra Mobile e della Squadra Criminalità Informatica della Polizia Postale emiliana, hanno permesso di individuare con certezza colui che produceva materiale provento dello sfruttamento sessuale di minori e che con adeguate e sofisticate tecniche informatiche, dal capoluogo ferrarese, lo metteva sul web a disposizione di “particolari utenti”, anche persone insospettabili. E’ stato infatti accertato che il catturato gestiva dall’Italia, attraverso connessioni ad Internet, numerosi siti web sparsi nel mondo (America, Francia, Ucraina) attraverso i quali metteva in vendita i turpi prodotti della sua attività di video-operatore professionale con ingenti guadagni.

L’operazione ha avuto un’accelerazione negli ultimi dieci giorni quando sulla rete internet si è improvvisamente sparsa la notizia che la Polizia era sulle tracce di un noto produttore di filmati pedo-pornografici.

Marzola, infatti, aveva già preso in affitto un appartamento in Ucraina ove avrebbe potuto continuare indisturbato la sua attività.

Ma gli investigatori non si sono fatti sorprendere dal tentativo di fuga del Marzola, in procinto di prendere un aereo per Kiev. A fermarlo, infatti, è stato un provvedimento di fermo firmato dai pm Proto e Di Benedetto.

La perquisizione ha consentito il rinvenimento di circa 100.000 euro provento di attività delittuosa, denaro nascosto in due casse audio per personal computer, già imballate per essere spedite in Ucraina a mezzo corriere internazionale, materiale hardware e numerosi supporti informatici (hard-disk, pendrive, personal computer – nella cui rubrica sono registrati numerosissimi contatti e-mail non solo con l’Italia ma con altri stati del mondo), nonché centinaia di dvd a contenuto illecito, oltre ad un guardaroba completo di abbigliamento intimo per minorenni, della consistenza di circa 500 capi, utilizzati per le sceneggiature dei suoi filmati, tra i quali spiccano squallidi perizoma e costumi estremamente succinti.

E’ stata inoltre rinvenuta tutta l’attrezzatura per videofilmare gli abusi nei confronti di bambine, che dovevano essere rigorosamente under 14. Da una prima analisi del materiale sequestrato all’arrestato sono emerse immagini terribili, che ritraggono numerose bambine non ancora identificate, con caratteri somatici collegabili all’est europeo ed al sud est asiatico, sulle quali viene perpetrato abuso sessuale.

Marzola, interrogato dal pubblico ministero, ha confessato nella notte e sembra che abbia svelato altri particolari che potranno consentire possibili sviluppi internazionali del turpe traffico, che saranno coordinati dall’Interpol.

ARRESTO DI UN PROFESSIONISTA DELLA PEDOPORNOGRAFIA - Le Parole non dette

lunedì 04 settembre 2006 - FERRARA - Un vero e proprio professionista della pedopornografia. Produceva video, sfruttando minorenni, soprattutto dell'est europeo, poi li vendeva su internet, a migliaia di clienti sparsi per tutto il mondo. Sergio Marzola, 40 anni, di Ferrara, e' stato arrestato dalla Polizia dopo un'indagine che ha coinvolto anche l'Interpol. Si tratta del primo arresto in Italia di un videomaker pedofilo. A incastrarlo e' stata una brutta storia avvenuta in Belgio, un filmino hard tra un padre e le due figlie piccole e minorate psichiche.

Quando la squadra mobile di Ferrara lo ha catturato, eseguendo un decreto di fermo dei sostituti procuratori della Repubblica Nicola Proto e Filippo Di Benedetto che hanno coordinato l'inchiesta, Marzola aveva gia' preparato le valigie, piene di biancheria intima per bambini, dvd, computer e una telecamera professionale utilizzata per la produzione di video. Aveva disdetto i conti correnti e gia' prenotato un volo per Kiev, pronto a trasferirsi in Ucraina, dove aveva gia' affittato una casa e dove avrebbe continuato a produrre video e venderli attraverso i suoi siti internet 'invisibili', appoggiati su server di paesi stranieri (Francia, Ucraina e America). Sequestrati anche 100mila euro in contanti, l'incasso della sua squallida attivita', nascosti in due casse audio per personal computer gia' imballate e pronte per essere spedite in Ucraina. L'inchiesta, che ha portato i Pm ferraresi ad arrestarlo per scongiurare un concreto pericolo di fuga, e' partita dall'Australia dove la polizia postale ha sequestrato un video pedopornografico in cui due bambine di 9 e 10 anni, entrambe con gravi problemi psichici, subivano abusi da un uomo che chiamavano 'papa''. Dall'analisi dell'audio hanno capito che la lingua che si parlava nel filmato era il fiammingo e si sono messi in contatto con la polizia belga, che a luglio ha arrestato Pascal Taveirne, gia' noto agli inquirenti belgi che si occupano di pedopornografia. Indagando su di lui sono risaliti a Sergio Marzola, il produttore materiale del video, e si sono messi in contatto con la polizia di Ferrara. In collaborazione con la polizia postale di Bologna, gli agenti hanno raccolto prove sufficienti ad incastrarlo ed hanno capito che stava per espatriare. Per questo hanno informato l'ufficio del Pubblico Ministero ferrarese che ha emesso il provvedimento di fermo.

Interrogato dai Pm Proto e Di Benedetto, Sergio Marzola (peraltro gia' conosciuto dalle forze dell'ordine in citta' per una storia di adescamento di minori risalente a qualche anno fa) ha confessato la sua attivita'. Girava per l'Europa dove cercava

giovani attrici, tutte rigorosamente under 14, le quali (spesso con la connivenza della famiglie, alle quali andava un compenso fra 250 e 500 euro) venivano utilizzate per i video che poi rivendeva su internet. Per ogni 'cliente' che acquistava i suoi prodotti, Marzola incassava fra 200 e 400 euro: margini di guadagno da capogiro. Gestiti con sistemi di pagamento molto complessi, che dirottavano i compensi illeciti su una sorta di 'paradiso fiscale' telematico, difficilmente individuabile per la polizia postale. La polizia di Ferrara ha sequestrato anche un computer contenente 30mila ''e-mail'' e un migliaio di contatti di pedofili di tutto il mondo che permetteranno di aprire una maxi-inchiesta sul mondo della pedopornografia. L'arresto del videomaker ferrarese e' stato reso possibile dalla collaborazione internazionale fra le varie forze di polizia che nel giro di pochissimo tempo (l'identificazione di Marzola risale a non molti giorni fa) sono arrivate al primo arresto italiano di un autentico professionista della pedopornografia.
Il lavoro degli inquirenti non e' finito. Adesso dovra' essere analizzato il materiale sequestrato. Centinaia di gigabyte di materiale pronto per essere messo in vendita e i mille indirizzi ''e-mail'' che possono far risalire ad altrettanti pedofili. Probabile anche il coinvolgimento di molti italiani sul cui conto si concentreranno le indagini nei prossimi mesi.

PEDOFILIA: ARRESTATO ANCHE CONSIGLIERE DI COMUNE MILANESE (2) - ansa

(ANSA) - FERRARA, 5 NOV - L'operazione Koala era partita nell'agosto del 2006 con l'arresto di Marzola, ferrarese di 41 anni fermato dalla polizia con l'accusa di essere un videomaker specializzato in produzioni pedopornografiche. A incastrarlo era stata una brutta storia avvenuta in Belgio: un filmino hard con un padre che abusava delle due figlie minorate psichiche. Seguendo le tracce di quel filmato immesso nel circuito dei pedopornografi, le forze di polizia erano riusciti ad individuare il belga, Pascal Taveirne, e il ferrarese.

Filippo Di Benedetto e Nicola Proto della Procura della Repubblica di Ferrara, aveva quindi arrestato Marzola, proprio
mentre stava per lasciare l'Italia per stabilirsi definitivamente in Ucraina, dove realizzava la maggior parte dei
suoi filmati. Nel materiale pronto per la partenza la polizia trovò numerosissime prove (per lo più filmati) dell'attività
del videomaker.

Non solo: l'analisi dei supporti informatici sequestrati a Marzola aveva fatto emergere circa 50mila e-mail, diligentemente conservate dall'indagato, a prova della corrispondenza avuta con i 2.500 clienti che da ogni parte del
mondo richiedevano i suoi filmati (che lui commercializzava attraverso Internet, basilare è stata l'analisi dei server).
Europol ha così analizzato le e-mail, suddividendole paese per paese e inviando poi separate notizie di reato alle singole
autorità giudiziarie dei paesi competenti. Il 29 ottobre sono scattate 17 perquisizioni nelle abitazioni di altrettanti
'clienti' italiani di Marzola. E le perquisizioni hanno portato all'esecuzione di tre provvedimenti di arresto nei confronti di
D.G.E., cinquantenne residente a Pontedera (Pisa), dipendente pubblico, V.A. di anni 45, residente a Torre del Lago Viareggio (Lucca), titolare di un negozio di cartoleria e del consigliere
comunale, T.S..

Marzola, che resta il principale indagato, al quale sono stati contestati i reati che comprendono sia gli atti sessuali con minorenni, che i reati di produzione, commercializzazione e divulgazione mediante la rete Internet e detenzione di materiale a contenuto pedopornografico, è ancora in carcere. Sarà giudicato molto probabilmente entro i primi mesi del 2008. (ANSA).

Global trail of abuse led to arrest of five suspects

The Garda operation to seize the computers of five suspected child abusers began at least six years ago, reveals Jim Cusack

THE trial that eventually led to the doors of five men in Mayo, Westmeath, Wicklow, Clare and Galway, began six years ago in Denmark. Police there arrested a 45-year-old chiropractor who had been sexually abusing his nine-year-old daughter, and then uploading images on to an internet site operated by a network of paedophiles calling themselves the "Fun Club".

Since the late Nineties, 45-year-old Dr Lloyd Alan Emmerson had been using the internet to exchange images of the abuse of his daughter with 25 other European men who were also abusing their daughters, or little girls in their care.

In all, 65 girls aged from two years to 14 were found to have been abused and were taken into care in 2002. Emmerson, who was found to have half a million images, including films of children, was sentenced to 30 years' imprisonment.

One of the men with whom Emmerson was sharing images via the Fun Club bulletin board -- an early version of the popular teenage websites, like MySpace -- was Pascal Taveirne from Bruges in Belgium.

Taveirne was sharing images of himself raping and otherwise sexually abusing his daughters, who were then aged four and five and both described on Fun Club as severely autistic. In one of the videos shared on the internet, one of the little girls is heard referring to her abuser as "daddy" in an accent clearly from the area of northern Belgium, where Bruges lies.

For reasons which remain unclear, Taveirne avoided prosecution at that time and the girls were returned to his care. He went on raping and abusing them.

Belgium has more than 200 local police forces, rather than one integrated force as we have in Ireland.

It has an appalling record in prosecuting paedophile crime, dating from the 1990s when repeated warnings and evidence failed to stop Marc Dutroux -- who abducted six girls and murdered four of them.

Dutroux filmed himself raping the girls, whom he held captive in specially constructed dungeons under his house. Some of the images he made were among the mass of paedophile images that were put up on sites like Fun Club.

Like Dutroux, Taveirne continued to abuse children, despite having come to the notice of the authorities in such a serious scenario. He remained at liberty -- continuing to abuse the girls until August this year, when he was arrested, taken into custody and the girls taken into care.

The more recent events leading up to this began in October last year, when police in Queensland, Australia, arrested nine men aged between 29 and 64 and charged them with a total of 188 offences of abuse and possession of images of child sexual abuse. More than two million images of child exploitation were seized.

The Queensland police noticed than many of the images they uncovered had been produced in Europe. They sent the images and file on their investigations to Interpol, which distributed the material to European police forces.

The EU-wide operation was termed "Koala" because of its origins in Australia.

The EU operation also led to last August's arrest in Italy of 40-year-old Sergio Marzola, a photographer and webmaster. Italian police discovered that Marzola had made contact with Taveirne through the internet last year and had met him at a hotel in Bruges.

In evidence laid against Marzola, Italian police say he paid €250 to let Taveirne's daughters be filmed in lingerie, then €500 to film them naked and subsequently €750 for Taveirne to rape one of them on film.

Marzola was selling the images through internet bulletin boards whose existence was known only to paedophiles. They spend only minutes or even seconds on these boards before making contact and then disappearing into private "chat rooms" to conduct business.

The Italians were shocked to find out that Taveirne had previously come to the attention of the Belgian authorities, but had remained at liberty and in charge of the girls.

The Italians were scathing about the excuses offered by the Belgians, who seemed to be in denial that any of their citizens was involved in a paedophile network, and considered the vast numbers of images being shared on the web as "private collections".

The fact that Taveirne was named in Italy while he was afforded anonymity in Belgium also baffled the Italians.

According to documents forwarded from Belgium to the Italian prosecutors, Taveirne told police that the payments he received for five hours of his daughters being filmed provided him with the same amount of money he made for two weeks' work. His wife, who was also arrested, claimed that the lingerie she supplied for the girls was similar to summer clothing.

Italian police arrested Marzola on August 16 as he was about to emigrate to the Ukraine, where he had bought a house and a studio in the city of Karkov. His travel baggage included a wardrobe of 500 items of "petite-sized'' lingerie; hundreds of DVDs of child abuse and rape; computer equipment; an archive of 30,000 electronic addresses and communications; computers and cameras; and €100,000 in cash.

Italian police believe Marzola was moving to the Ukraine because the country has become a centre for Western paedophiles seeking victims for abuse and exploitation over the internet. Earlier this year, a United Nations report named the Ukraine as one of the worst countries in the world for the sexual exploitation of children and young women.

Paedophile predators openly advertise for "Lolita" models, who are paid as little as €30 per session -- about half the average monthly wage.

Poverty and a highly organised human trafficking network (particularly for the sex trade), combined with extensive government corruption, has made the country a haven for paedophiles.

The UN noted that the apparently insatiable demand by Western European and North American paedophiles for images of young Caucasian girls adds to its attractiveness for these predators.

Marzola is being charged in relation to operating 30 internet sites intended for the sale and exchange of paedophile imagery. The police found that he was charging from €200 to €400 per transaction. Customers were able to send requests for certain types of abuse, or poses, or clothing to be worn.

Among the images of the two Taveirne girls was one of them posing before a poster they had drawn. It was covered in childish drawings of butterflies and love hearts, and bore the inscription: "voor Sergio" (for Sergio).

The main network that Marzola is believed to have set up is referred to in the Italian prosecution documents as the "Zandvoort File". The initial stages of the investigation have concentrated on detecting as many victims as possible of this network, and a reported 23 girls have been taken into care.

Last month Interpol and Europol (the EU police agency) distributed details of credit card payments by over 2,500 suspected paedophiles via the Zandvoort network. Five files were handed over to gardai, who carried out last week's raids and seized computers and other material.

The network operates in much the same way as the "Landslide" network, run from Texas, which was detected by the US Postal Service in 2002 and led to the arrest of around 100 men in Ireland, including Judge Curtin in Kerry and Tim Allen, husband of celebrity cook Darina Allen.

Three Scots arrested as international paedophile ring uncovered

November 06 2007 - THREE Scots have been arrested as part of a European-wide police investigation into a paedophile network which saw horrific child abuse images sold to more than 2500 customers across 19 countries.

The arrests in the Grampian and Strathclyde police force areas are among 46 made in the UK in the past five months as part of Operation Koala, which was triggered when a video made in Belgium showing a father raping his daughters, aged nine and 11, was discovered in Australia in 2006.

It led to a 15-month investigation into an Italian-run paedophile website which saw tailor-made videos of children being abused sold to clients including teachers, doctors, lawyers and computer experts, European prosecutors said.

When Australian authorities discovered child pornography on a video produced in Belgium, they set in motion an extraordinary investigation involving 20 other countries.

It was codenamed Operation Koala and its mission was to crack the network.

So far police have made 92 arrests in Europe, involving 23 children between the ages of 9 and 16.

Mike Kennedy, president of Eurojust - one of the organisations involved in the 12-month investigation - has told The World Today that the Australian connection was vital.

He says the initial breakthrough came when Australian police found a child abuse video.

"The video itself had a language that they thought was Dutch on it, and they referred it to Interpol, who referred it to Europol, the European Police Office," he said.

"They did some analysis of the video itself, and they discovered that it was actually the Flemish language, and that it appeared to have been produced in Belgium.

"As a result of that, the Belgian authorities were contacted, and a Belgian perpetrator and two victims, the children, were identified.

"As a result of that, a lot of investigation was done, and it was discovered that the man involved, following seizure of material, was running a website."

Mr Kennedy says the man had made a considerable amount of money selling child porn videos to about 2,500 customers worldwide.

He says it is possible that without the Australian tip-off, the network could still be operating.

"There are a lot of these networks, they are clandestine networks, and unless they come to attention, through police activity in some part of the world, it's quite possible that they go undetected," he said.

Mr Kennedy says the victims were Belgian nationals, and some of the material had been recorded by an Italian national in the Ukraine.

"There were 21 Ukrainians involved, and what they were doing was essentially, once they developed the network, posted these materials on the internet and offered, effectively, these videos to a range of customers around the world who were available, or able to tap into the network through their own computers and take advantage of the electronic technologies that we have now that allow this sort of thing to happen at the touch of a button," he said.

Mr Kennedy says this is one of the first times that, instead of just having a list of customers, authorities have been able to arrest the people responsible for producing the video.

THE HAGUE, Netherlands — Police and prosecutors from across Europe have arrested 92 suspects allegedly linked to a network that produced and sold child abuse videos to 2,500 customers around the world, authorities said Monday.

The videos, ranging from girls in provocative poses to a father raping his young daughters, were sold to clients in 19 countries including teachers, doctors, lawyers and computer experts, prosecutors said.

The 23 victims, aged 9 to 16, were mainly Ukrainian girls duped into performing sex acts with promises of lucrative modeling careers.

The 15-month investigation — code-named Operation Koala — was triggered by the Australian police discovery in July 2006 of a video depicting a Belgian father raping his daughters, aged 9 and 11, said Menno Hagemeijer of the serious crime department of pan-European police organization Europol.

The huge investigation should "give a really clear signal to everybody that this activity is illegal, unacceptable and revolting," said Belgian prosecutor Michele Coninsx. "It is touching on the lives and souls of youngsters who cannot speak for themselves."

As of Monday morning, 92 suspects had been arrested, most of them in coordinated raids last month, and nine remained in custody.

The alleged mastermind, Italian Sergio Marzola, and the Belgian suspected of abusing his children, were arrested last year.

Many of those arrested and released have been charged. In France, 20 people have had preliminary charges filed against them, prosecutors there said last week.

Michael Kennedy, president of Eurojust, a group that coordinates the work of European Union prosecutors, paid tribute to the close cooperation of police and prosecutors across the continent. He said the ongoing investigation was likely to lead to more arrests.

Marzola, 42, allegedly made some 150 videos in Ukraine, the Netherlands and Belgium. He was arrested last year in Bologna a day before he was due to move permanently to Ukraine, where prosecutors say he ran a studio for producing the abuse films.

Police say he sold the videos online. Customers mainly paid via the Internet and were sent links and passwords allowing them to download the films, said Hagemeijer. Those from countries with slow Internet connections sent cash and were mailed DVDs. When police raided his home, they found euro70,000 (US$100,000)in cash.

Some of Marzola's customers also sent requests for particular poses and even slips of paper bearing their names for "models" in the videos to hold, said Hagemeijer. Others sent underwear for them to wear and Marzola allegedly auctioned off the lingerie used in some of his shoots.

Customers paid extra to be present while films were shot, while others sent gifts of poetry and jewelry to their favorite girls, he added.

Paramedic arrested as police smash internet paedophile ring -DailyMail

An ambulance paramedic is suspected of being part of a global internet paedophile ring which traded in horrific tailor-made videos.

Police have arrested 46 people across the UK after a vile Italian website, which paraded as a respectable child modelling agency, was smashed.

A source revealed that British children are among the youngsters who have been rescued from lives of horrendous sexual abuse.

To a stranger, the site appeared to be reputable but paedophiles were able to access hidden pages where the films were advertised for sale.

Young girls were abused to order and the films were sold to thousands of sex offenders in 19 different countries.

Some of the users even travelled to the studio in Italy in order to watch and record the abuse, making their own private videos.

The films were all produced by a 42-year-old unnamed Italian national, who also ran the depraved website.

One of the films showed a father sexually abusing his daughters who were aged nine and 11. In all the Italian sold over 150 self-made, sexually explicit videos of girls.

The investigation began when one of the videos, which was made in Belgium, was discovered in Australia last year.

A Belgian perpetrator and two victims were identified.

Operation Koala was launched and the trail led to Bologna in northern Italy where the agency website owner was arrested.

Investigators discovered he had been running the business for 18 months and had around 2,500 customers worldwide.

The abusive material was mainly produced in the his private studio though some was filmed in Belgium and the Netherlands.

Details of his "customers" - which included paedophiles in the UK - were passed on by the Italian authorities to Europol and Eurojust.

In June 2007, the material was passed to the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre in London which analysed the information and gave details of individual suspects to their local police forces.

So far, 46 UK suspects have been arrested in operations involving 22 police forces with more arrests expected.

The British-based paramedic is one of those under suspicion but had not yet been arrested. Police refused to reveal any details about him.

The forces involved in Operation Koala include Bedfordshire; Cambridgeshire; Cheshire; Derbyshire; Devon and Cornwall; Durham; Essex; Gloucestershire; Grampian; Greater Manchester Police; Kent; Metropolitan Police; Norfolk; Northumbria; North Yorkshire; Northamptonshire; Police Service of Northern Ireland; Scottish Crime Drug Enforcement Agency; Surrey; Sussex; Strathclyde and Thames Valley Police.

Scotland Yard said they had arrested five individuals, more than any other single force.

They are a 39-year-old man from Hackney, a 61-year-old man from Bromley, a 55-year-old from Brixton who has previously been on the sex offenders register, a 23-year-old from Hillingdon and a 48-year-old from Orpington, Kent.

The men were arrested for possession, manufacturing and distribution of indecent images of children and have all been bailed.

Jim Gamble, Chief Executive of CEOP, said: "Yet again we see the technology used by paedophiles to facilitate child abuse now turned against them as a result of coordinated and effective international law enforcement cooperation.

"Operation Koala uncovered the true meaning of 'online child abuse': in this case, the exchanging of images in which real children were subjected to horrific sexual abuse, often to order.

"The work by Eurojust and Europol on this complex and dynamic investigation will, through working with partners internationally, make children safer in many different countries."

Tous les Canadiens arrêtés jusqu'à présent sont des hommes. Au moins un d'entre eux, interpellé il y a deux semaines, est un ancien chef scout d'une région voisine de Toronto.

Jusqu'à présent, la police ne détient aucune preuve qu'il y ait eu des victimes canadiennes, bien qu'un suspect toujours recherché fasse l'objet d'allégations voulant qu'il ait communiqué le désir de faire participer ses propres filles.

D'autres arrestations sont à prévoir, a indiqué Earla-Kim McColl, surintendante à la GRC, en conférence de presse à Ottawa. «La majorité des enquêtes sont toujours en cours et les polices locales communiqueront très prochainement avec un certain nombre d'individus identifiés.»

Selon la police, la pédopornographie était produite principalement en Ukraine, mais aussi en Belgique et aux Pays-Bas.

Le ministre fédéral de la Sécurité publique, Stockwell Day, a émis un communiqué dans lequel il félicite le "Centre national de coordination contre l'exploitation des enfants et ses partenaires européens et canadiens de leurs efforts continus dans le cadre de cette enquête très importante".

"Toutes les formes d'exploitation sexuelle des enfants constituent des actes criminels terribles", a-t-il ajouté.

Opération coordonnée de police contre la pornographie enfantine sur Internet - Communiqués, fedpol, 05.11.2007

Berne. La Confédération et les cantons ont mené ces dernières semaines une opération de police d'envergure nationale pour lutter contre la pornographie enfantine sur Internet. Dix cantons ont participé à l'opération "Koala" lancée par Europol et pour laquelle l'Office fédéral de la police (fedpol) s'est chargé des tâches de coordination. L'opération était dirigée contre des personnes soupçonnées d'avoir acheté des images de pornographie enfantine et de les avoir mises en circulation.

Cette opération a mobilisé les forces de police et les autorités judiciaires des cantons d'Argovie, de Berne, de Bâle-Campagne, de Fribourg, de Genève, de Saint-Gall, de Soleure, de Thurgovie, de Zoug et de Zurich, ainsi que de la ville de Zurich. Jusqu'à fin septembre, 19 perquisitions ont été effectuées; elles ont conduit à la saisie d'une grande quantité de données et de matériel informatique et au contrôle de 19 personnes.

Enquêtes internationales
Les enquêtes menées par les autorités australiennes de poursuite pénale sont à l'origine de l'opération. En visionnant du matériel de pornographie enfantine, la police australienne a découvert une vidéo produite en Belgique. Les victimes et les auteurs ainsi que le producteur de la vidéo, un Italien, ont pu être identifiés. Ce dernier gérait un site Internet qui proposait du matériel de pornographie enfantine, auquel plus de 2500 personnes dans le monde ont eu recours.

Suite à cela, des enquêtes de grande ampleur ont été lancées en Belgique et en Italie. Les dossiers d'enquêtes ont ensuite été analysés et traités par Europol. Il s'est révélé que l'affaire avait des ramifications dans près de 30 pays, dont la Suisse. Europol a transmis les informations aux autorités d'enquêtes compétentes des pays concernés. La Police judiciaire fédérale a analysé les informations et les a mises à la disposition des cantons.

Travail de longue haleine
L'examen du matériel saisi est encore en cours, mais d'après les premières communications faites par les autorités citées précédemment, des liens ont pu être établis avec l'élément constitutif d'infraction de pornographie enfantine.

Etant donné que les enquêtes pénales sont en cours, il n'est pas possible de donner davantage de précisions sur les opérations menées.

Le ministre Day applaudit à l'enquête internationale en cours relativement à l'exploitation sexuelle des enfants sur Internet - sécurité publique du Canada

Le 15 janvier 2008 — L’honorable Stockwell Day, ministre de la Sécurité publique, a émis la déclaration suivante en réponse au bilan dressé par la GRC au sujet de « l’opération Koala », une enquête internationale relative à l’exploitation sexuelle des enfants sur Internet à laquelle participe le Centre national de coordination contre l’exploitation des enfants de la GRC, l’Office européen de police (Europol) et des organismes canadiens d’application de la loi.

« Toutes les formes d’exploitation sexuelle des enfants constituent des actes criminels terribles. J’aimerais féliciter le Centre national de coordination contre l’exploitation des enfants et ses partenaires européens et canadiens de leurs efforts continus dans le cadre de cette enquête très importante. Grâce à leur travail acharné, neuf personnes ont été arrêtées.

Les enquêtes d’envergure, comme l’opération Koala, sont complexes et exigent énormément de coordination entre les organismes d’application de la loi et les autres partenaires en Amérique du Nord et en Europe. La GRC a travaillé avec 18 organismes canadiens d’application de la loi afin d’enquêter sur près de 100 personnes soupçonnées de participer à l’exploitation sexuelle des enfants sur Internet.

Le gouvernement du Canada demeure déterminé à lutter contre l’exploitation sexuelle des enfants à l’échelle mondiale et il continuera de travailler avec ses partenaires nationaux et internationaux en vue de réprimer ce crime odieux. Dans le budget de 2007, nous avons investit 6 millions de dollars pour aider à protéger les enfants des prédateurs en ligne et pour lutter contre la traite des personnes. Nous continuerons d’appuyer pleinement l’opération Koala et d’autres enquêtes semblables qui permettent de poursuivre en justice les personnes qui exploitent sexuellement les enfants. »

Pédophilie sur le Web: 9 Canadiens arrêtés

Deux Montréalais figurent parmi les neuf Canadiens arrêtés dans le cadre d'une vaste opération policière internationale baptisée opération Koala visant à démanteler un réseau de pédophilie sur Internet.

Ces Canadiens sont des présumés clients du réseau qui serait formé de quelque 2500 personnes, en majorité des Européens, a dévoilé la Gendarmerie royale du Canada, hier, lors d'une conférence de presse à Ottawa.

La GRC poursuit son enquête sur quelque 50 autres suspects liés au réseau. Parmi eux, des instructeurs de natation, des chefs scouts, des professeurs d'université, des avocats et des travailleurs sociaux, selon le corps policier. Les neuf hommes arrêtés vivent dans sept provinces différentes.

«Ces suspects ne sont pas tombés sur un site de pornographie juvénile une fois par hasard en naviguant sur l'internet», a expliqué la gendarme Mélanie Laroche, du Centre national de coordination contre l'exploitation des enfants de la GRC. L'achat de vidéos de pornographie infantile par l'entremise de ce réseau comportait plusieurs étapes.

Les suspects visionnaient d'abord des extraits de films dans lesquels de jeunes filles âgées de 9 à 16 ans se font violer par un homme ou sont forcées de commettre des actes sexuels entre elles. Les clients passaient ensuite leur commande pour obtenir la vidéo complète (d'une durée de 60 à 90 minutes) en remplissant un formulaire d'inscription. Ils devaient faire un paiement électronique de 75 à 150$ canadiens par vidéo. Une fois l'argent reçu, le chef du réseau leur fournissait un mot de passe et un nom d'utilisateur pour qu'ils téléchargent le matériel.

Les Montréalais, l'un dans la quarantaine et l'autre dans la cinquantaine, ont été arrêtés en novembre dans la métropole, a indiqué le commandant à la section des agressions sexuelles à la police de Montréal, Pierre Leduc. Tous deux ont été accusés de possession de matériel pornographique juvénile et d'avoir accédé à un site internet contenant ce matériel. Ils ont comparu fin novembre et ont été libérés sous conditions en attendant leur procès.

Opération Koala

L'opération Koala a débuté en juillet 2006 en Australie, alors que des enquêteurs ont découvert des vidéos montrant deux soeurs de 9 et 11 ans violées par un homme parlant flamand. Avec cet indice, les policiers ont retrouvé les fillettes en Belgique et l'agresseur qui était leur père.

Le Belge a mené Europol (Office européen de police) à la tête du réseau: un Italien qui opérait en Belgique, aux Pays-Bas et en Ukraine. Le producteur italien, Marzola Sergio, invitait certains clients à participer au tournage dans son studio en Ukraine. Il a été arrêté l'an dernier tout comme 92 autres suspects dans 18 pays d'Europe et en Australie.

Europol a identifié une vingtaine de jeunes victimes, en grande majorité des Ukrainiennes. Les policiers européens ont pu transmettre une liste de 98 clients au Canada. La GRC en a identifié la moitié. La raison: le manque de coopération ou le manque de moyens de certains fournisseurs d'accès internet, a expliqué la caporale Lana Prosper de la GRC.

À l'heure actuelle, le Centre national de coordination contre l'exploitation des enfants de la GRC mène une douzaine d'enquêtes majeures, soit avec au moins 40 suspects par dossier, a ajouté Mme Laroche. La police de Montréal, de son côté, enquête sur 100 à 125 cas d'exploitation sexuelle d'enfants à des fins commerciales chaque année.

«Le gouvernement du Canada est déterminé à lutter contre l'exploitation sexuelle des enfants à l'échelle mondiale et il continuera de travailler avec ses partenaires nationaux et internationaux en vue de réprimer ce crime odieux», a dit pour sa part le ministre de la Sécurité publique, Stockwell Day.

Le coup de filet anti-pédophiles de l'opération ''Koala''

08/11/2007 PARCE QUE les tout premiers indices étaient venus d'Australie, l'opération a judicieusement été baptisée opération «Koala ». Le coup de filet contre un réseau de diffuseurs et de détenteurs d'images pédopornographiques, réalisé entre lundi et mercredi sous la houlette d'Europol (Office européen de police), s'est déroulé sur l'ensemble du continent européen, aboutissant en France à l'interpellation d'une vingtaine de suspects. Après de longues auditions, ceux-ci ont été mis en examen et deux d'entre eux écroués.

L'enquête, ouverte en 2006 avec d'infinies précautions, avait pour but de mettre un terme à la diffusion massive par certains internautes de millions de photos mettant en scène des enfants. Rôdées à l'infiltration sur le Web, les équipes de l'Office central de répression des violences aux personnes (OCRVP) avaient, au fil du temps, réussi à identifier une quarantaine d'adresses d'utilisateurs français parmi les 3 000 repérées en Europe. Pour autant, tous n'ont pas pu être ciblés : afin de brouiller les pistes, la moitié des suspects téléchargeaient leurs images ou leurs vidéos à partir de cybercafés.

Trahi par son accent
Coordonnant les investigations menées par diverses directions interrégionales de police judiciaire, l'OCRVP a ainsi pu faire main basse sur plusieurs lots de matériel informatique. Perquisitionnant au domicile d'un homme d'une trentaine d'années, les policiers ont notamment saisi un serveur contenant 1,5 million de clichés pédopornographiques. Informaticien, ce célibataire était hébergé par ses grands-parents.

Parmi les suspects figurent également trois hommes mis en cause dans le cadre de voyages à l'étranger. Adeptes des destinations asiatiques, et principalement du Cambodge, ils profitaient de leurs escapades pour s'adonner au tournage de scènes érotiques avec des mineurs. Un ancien médecin radié de l'Ordre et expatrié en Thaïlande a ainsi été interpellé au moment où il posait le pied sur le sol français.

En Belgique, un père de famille a quant à lui été trahi par son accent flamand, clairement identifié par les enquêteurs de Bruges lors du visionnage d'un film intercepté sur la toile. Habitué à mettre en scène les relations sexuelles qu'il imposait à ses propres filles - âgées de 6, 8 et 10 ans -, il aurait reconnu être en contact avec un cinéaste italien, lui-même fournisseur de vidéos pornographiques tournées avec des mineurs en Ukraine. Une grosse partie des investigations devrait d'ailleurs se tourner désormais vers l'identification des producteurs alimentant ce type de réseaux, généralement actifs dans une dizaine de pays au moins.

En 2005, l'opération «Icebreaker», elle aussi conduite par Europol, avait permis l'interpellation de quinze Français, dont un gendarme et un instituteur. Selon les pays, la détention de documents à caractère pédopornographique est punie d'un mois à trois ans de prison. En France, leur diffusion peut en valoir dix.

Belg spilfiguur in Europees netwerk kinderporno - De Morgen

DM UPDATE  De Europese politiedienst Europol en de Europese gerechtelijke coördinatiedienst Eurojust hebben het afgelopen jaar een wijdvertakte handel in kinderporno opgerold. Bij operatie "Koala" vielen 92 arrestaties in 18 Europese landen en Australië. Meer arrestaties moeten nog volgen. Dat maakten beide diensten vandaag bekend in het Nederlandse Den Haag.

Het opgerolde netwerk zou kinderpornofilms op maat van klanten maken. Een van de spilfiguren in de zaak is de 37-jarige Pascal T. uit Assebroek, een deelgemeente van Brugge, zo meldden Vlaamse kranten.

Volgens de onderzoekers misbruikte de man zijn dochters van tien en twaalf jaar. Een van hen heeft een verstandelijke handicap. De filmpjes verhuurde hij dan door. De man "verhuurde" zijn dochters ook aan andere pedofielen. In ons land zijn er volgens de Europol en Eurojust vijf mensen gearresteerd.

De belangrijkste spilfiguur van het netwerk is volgens de Europese speurders een Italiaanse fotograaf uit Ferrara. Het zou gaan om de 40-jarige Sergio Marzolo. In totaal zouden er 2.500 mensen in 19 landen, vooral in Europa, geïdentificeerd zijn als klant van de Italiaanse verdachte.

Oekraïne

Bij de man werd 70.000 euro gevonden en grote hoeveelheden kinderporno. De Italiaanse politie kon de man arresteren toen hij op punt stond naar Oekraïne te trekken. De verdachte heeft daar twee verblijven. 21 van zijn slachtoffers tussen negen en zestien jaar komen uit Oekraïne. Voor een som van 30 tot 40 euro huurde hij die meisjes in voor hun "diensten".

Voor Michael Kennedy, topman van Eurojust, is het een kwestie van tijd vooraleer het aantal arrestaties opgedreven wordt. Naast de vijf arrestaties in België vonden ook al vier arrestaties plaats in Italië, 40 in het Verenigd Koninkrijk, acht in Zweden, 21 in Frankrijk, elf in Spanje, twee in IJsland en een in Denemarken.

De Belgische spilfiguur zou volgens gerechtelijke bronnen die Gazet van Antwerpen aanhaalde, gereageerd hebben op een advertentie van Marzolo. Die zocht naar jonge modellen. Zo zouden beide verdachten elkaar leren kennen hebben.

De zaak ging aan het rollen toen de Australische politie bij een inval kinderporno vond. De gevonden beelden toonden de twee misbruikte dochters van de Belgische hoofdverdachte. (dpa/anp/belga/dm)

Een internationale actie tegen kinderporno heeft ruim 2500 verdachten opgeleverd. Een spilfiguur is Pascal T. (37) uit Brugge, die zijn dochters van tien en twaalf zelf misbruikte en verhuurde aan pedofielen, onder meer aan een koppel uit Nederland.

Europol maakt vandaag de resultaten bekend van operatie Koala, een van de grootste acties ooit tegen kinderporno. In 27 landen zijn verdachten opgepakt. Onder hen een kinderarts in Frankrijk, die meer dan 1,5 miljoen pedofiele foto's in zijn bezit had, en een leraar lichamelijke opvoeding uit Vlaams-Brabant. Bij een inval werd hij op heterdaad betrapt op het misbruiken van zijn minderjarige dochter.

Het was de identificatie van een pedofiel uit Assebroek, bij Brugge, die de hele zaak mee aan het rollen bracht. De Australische politie vond bij een inval kinderporno. De beelden, waarop twee jonge meisjes werden misbruikt, waren duidelijk in België opgenomen.

Het onderzoek leidde naar Pascal T., in wiens kelder een studio was waar kinderporno werd opgenomen. T. speelde samen met zijn dochters van tien en twaalf jaar de 'hoofdrol'. Een van de meisjes is verstandelijk gehandicapt en was het zo gewend te worden misbruikt, dat ze het normaal vond.

T. had van het filmen zijn hoofdberoep gemaakt. Hij wilde met zijn dochters naar Oekraïne reizen om daar met andere minderjarige meisjes films op te nemen.

Vader verhuurt dochters voor 500 euro aan pedofielen

Bij een internationale actie tegen kinderporno zijn ruim 2.500 verdachten ontmaskerd. Een van de spilfiguren is een man uit Brugge. Hij maakte films waarop te zien is hoe hij zijn twee dochters misbruikt. Voor 500 euro ’verhuurde’ hij zijn kinderen ook aan andere pedofielen.
Opvallend is ook de arrestatie van een pedofiele vrouw.

Europol maakt vandaag de resultaten bekend van ’operatie Koala’, een van de grootste acties ooit tegen kinderporno. In 27 landen zijn verdachten opgepakt. Enkele tientallen ook in België. Vooral in de gerechtelijke arrondissementen Antwerpen, Hasselt en West-Vlaanderen.

Het was de identificatie van een pedofiel uit Assebroek, bij Brugge, die de hele zaak mee aan het rollen bracht. De Australische politie vond bij een inval kinderporno. De beelden, waarop twee jonge meisjes werden misbruikt, waren duidelijk in ons land opgenomen. Daarop startte het federale parket een onderzoek en kwam men bij Pascal T. (37) terecht. In de kelder van zijn woning werd een semi-professionele studio gevonden waar kinderporno werd opgenomen. T. speelde samen met zijn dochters van 10 en 12 jaar de ’hoofdrol’. Een van de meisjes is verstandelijk gehandicapt en was het zo gewoon om te worden misbruikt, dat ze het normaal vond.

De Bruggeling ’verhuurde’ zijn dochters ook aan anderen. Onder meer aan een koppel uit Nederland. Er zijn beelden gevonden van hoe een 30-jarige vrouw een van de meisjes seksueel misbruikt. Volgens de speurders is het vrij uniek dat kinderporno wordt gevonden waarop volwassen vrouwen te zien zijn.

Fotograaf

Ook Sergio Marizola, een 40-jarige Italiaan, is aangehouden. Hij filmde het misbruik en verkocht de beelden via het internet. Pascal T. verklaarde tegenover het gerecht dat hij Marizola leerde kennen nadat hij een advertentie had gelezen waarin de Italiaanse fotograaf jonge modellen zocht. T. kreeg 250 euro om zijn dochters in lingerie te laten poseren.

Na een tijdje stelde de fotograaf voor om de prijs te verdubbelen maar dan moesten ze wel naakt poseren. Uiteindelijk kreeg T. 500 euro per keer dat hij pornografische opnames liet maken. De Bruggeling maakte er zijn hoofdberoep van en was van plan om met zijn dochters naar Oekraïne te reizen om daar met andere minderjarige meisjes films op te nemen. Hij had immers geld nodig om zijn huis te renoveren.

Zijn ex-vrouw, van wie hij gescheiden leeft, zegt dat ze nooit iets heeft gemerkt en dat haar dochters nooit iets vertelden over het misbruik.

2.500 pedofielen

Aan de hand van de adressenbestanden van Pascal T. en Sergio Marizola kon Europol uiteindelijk wereldwijd meer dan 2.500 pedofielen identificeren. Daarbij een kinderarts in Frankrijk, een jonge vader die meer dan 1,5 miljoen pedofiele foto’s in zijn bezit had en een leraar lichamelijke opvoeding uit Vlaams-Brabant. Toen speurders bij hem binnen vielen, werd hij op heterdaad betrapt. Hij was in zijn slaapkamer zijn minderjarige dochter aan het misbruiken.

De 37-jarige Bruggeling Pascal T. blijkt het centrum te zijn geweest, van de internationale arrestatiegolf in de voorbije dagen in het Europese pedofiliemilieu.

Dat blijkt uit gegevens, ter beschikking gesteld door Europol in Den Haag. Pascal T. heeft zeker 2 van zijn 3 dochters niet alleen zelf misbruikt, maar "verhuurd" aan pedofielen, onder meer in Nederland. Het spoor naar Brugge werd in Australische ontdekt. Daar vond de politie bij een inval een grote hoeveelheid beelden waarop twee dochtertjes van Pascal T. werden misbruikt. De beelden zelf waren duidelijk uit Brugge afkomstig.

Het spoor leidde uiteindelijk via een pedofiel uit Assebroek naar Pascal T., waar in de kelder een professionele videostudio werd gevonden. Eén van de dochtertjes van Pascal T. is verstandelijk gehandicapt en "vond het normaal," misbruikt te worden. Volgens de onderzoekers was Pacal T. er in geslaagd zich met de pornofilms een luxeleventje te leiden. Hij had vlak voor de inval nog een reis naar Oekraïne geboekt, waar hij met een lokale filmstudio ook al afspraken rond had.

Europol maakte deze middag de resultaten bekend van "operatie Koala". In 27 landen werden verdachten opgepakt.

"Beklaagde Brugs pedoproces geen leider kinderpornonetwerk" (Belga-bericht)

Na afloop van de pleidooien in het pedofilieproces tegen Pascal T. voor de Brugse correctionele rechtbank heeft meester Joris Van Kouter gezegd dat zijn cliënt niet langer wordt aanzien als het kopstuk van een internationaal netwerk in kinderporno. De 37-jarige man uit Assebroek liet zijn eigen dochters van 9 en 11 jaar acteren in pornofilms die hij samen met een Italiaan maakte.

Maximumstraf geëist Het openbaar ministerie vorderde deze namiddag de maximumstraf voor de man

Dat is tien jaar effectieve celstraf, tien jaar ter beschikkingstelling van de regering en tien jaar ontzetting uit de rechten. De man wordt in alle gevallen gezien als een lid van een misdadige vereniging. De zwaarste straf riskeert hij voor de verkrachting van zijn eigen dochters toen ze nog niet tien jaar oud waren. Schuldig verzuim voor echtgenote

Ook voor de echtgenote van Pascal T. eiste het openbaar ministerie de maximumstraf voor schuldig verzuim, namelijk twee jaar effectieve celstraf. Zij zou niet hebben ingegrepen toen haar man zijn dochters misbruikte en in seksfilms liet acteren.

Gedeeltelijke bekentenissen Volgens meester Joris Van Kouter heeft zijn cliënt deels bekentenissen afgelegd. Hij zou intussen spijt hebben over zijn daden. De rechtbank vonnist op 19 februari. (belga/eb)

À l'issue des plaidoiries dans le proces de pédophilie contre Pascal T. au tribunal correctionnel brugeois, le maître Joris Van Kouter a dit que son client n'est plus vu comme le leader d'un réseau international dans kinderporno. L'homme de 37 ans de Assebroek a laissé ses propres filles de 9 et 11 ans jouer dans les pornofilms qu'il faisait avec un Italien.

Le ministère public a exigé la peine maximale exigée cet après-midi la peine maximale pour l'homme.

Ca veut dire dix ans peine de prison effective, et dix ans pour le recensement de disposition du gouvernement et dix ans d'interdiction de ses droits. L'homme est considéré en tous cas comme un membre d'une association criminelle. La plus lourde peine qu'il risque pour les viols de ses propres filles alors qu'elle n'avait pas à ce moment là encore dix ans.

Aussi pour l'épouse de Pascal T., le ministère public la peine maximale a aussi exigé deux an peine de prison effective pour ne pas avoir assisté ses filles. Elle ne serait pas intervenue aux moments où il abusaient de ses filles et les laissait tourner dans les seksfilms.

Selon maître Joris Van Kouter son client est partiellement passé aux aveux. Il regretterait, entre-temps, avoir commis ces actes. Le tribunal juge le 19 février (belga/reflux)

Spilfiguur pedofilienetwerk betuigt spijt De Standaard, 16.1.0

De 37-jarige man uit Assebroek die terechtstaat als de spilfiguur in een Europees pedofilienetwerk, heeft op zijn proces in Brugge gezegd dat het hem spijt dat het zo ver is gekomen.

De slagersgast misbruikte zijn twee dochtertjes en twee andere meisjes. Hij liet foto's van de kinderen maken en verkocht ze. Maar volgens zijn advocaat is hij niet de organisator van een groot kinderpornonetwerk, zoals wordt beweerd. Toch vraagt openbaar aanklager Ludo Vandaele de maximumstraf van 10jaar. 'Hij zag zijn kinderen als consumptiegoederen. Voor hem telde enkel het geld.' Volgens Vandaele vermeed het gerecht erger met zijn arrestatie in juli 2006. Mais selon son avocat il n'est pas l'organisateur d'un grand réseau pédophile, ainsi que prétendu. Pourtant l'accusateur public Ludo Vandaele, demande la peine maximale de 10 ans. 'Il a considéré ses enfants comme biens de consommation. Seul l'argent a compté pour lui. Selon Vandaele, le tribunal a évité le pire avec son arrestation en juillet 2006. De Bruggeling is de eerste Belg die terechtstaat voor het aanmaken en verkopen van kinderporno. Hij gebruikte daar zijn eigen kinderen van 9 en 11 voor.

Pascal T. (37), een man van twaalf stielen en dertien ongelukken, verscheen afgelopen dinsdag voor de correctionele rechtbank van Brugge. Hij moest zich verantwoorden voor het produceren en verspreiden van kinderporno waarin zijn eigen zwakbegaafde dochters een hoofdrol vertolkten.

Zelf speelde hij ook mee. Volgens de openbare aanklager is het de allereerste keer in ons land dat een kinderpornoproducent voor de rechter verschijnt. De dochters van T. zitten in het bijzonder onderwijs en beseffen volgens gerechtspsychiaters niet eens de ernst van de feiten. Ze vonden het zelfs vrij gewoon wat ze moesten doen.

”Mijn dochters deden niets liever dan te mogen poseren”, zegt vader T. die zelf overigens absoluut niet de ernst van de feiten beseft. Hij heeft wel zijn verontschuldigingen aangeboden, maar dat was vooral omdat zijn advocaat hem dat had ingefluisterd.

Zelfs zijn eigen moeder beseft niet wat voor een monster haar zoon is. Zij hoorde op de rechtbank verschrikkelijke dingen over hem vertellen, maar blijft hem toch steunen. ”Hij heeft me gezegd dat alles wat er op die filmpjes te zien is, trucage is. En ik geloof mijn zoon, als hij dat zegt”, aldus de bejaarde vrouw.

De rechter verwijt de slagersgast, het laatste beroep wat hij ooit uitoefende, dat hij zijn kinderen als consumptiegoederen gebruikte en misbruikte. Dat hij ze verhuurde omdat hij zelf te lui was om te werken en zijn huis liet verbouwen met geld dat zijn dochters verdienden door zich te laten misbruiken door schaamteloze mannen. Vaders die wellicht zelf kinderen hebben. Joris Van Cauter, advocaat van de hoofdverdachte, ontkent dat zijn cliënt een kopstuk van een internationale kinderpornobende is. Bovendien pleit hij verzachtende omstandigheden.

”Mijnheer T. werd tussen zijn vijfde en negende levensjaar zelf seksueel misbruikt door een familielid met wie hij een erg goede band had. De feiten waarvoor hij nu terechtstaat, houden daar zonder enige twijfel verband mee. Ik hoop dat de rechter daar uiteindelijk rekening mee zal houden.”

Pascal T. is al jaren bezeten door seks, zo wees het onderzoek uit. Zijn ex-vriendinnetjes kunnen dat getuigen. De meeste van zijn relaties liepen spaak, net wegens zijn niet te stillen seksuele appetijt. ”Hij wilde altijd nieuwe dingen proberen”, zegt de moeder van zijn twee dochters. Maar dat hij zich ook aan hun eigen kinderen vergreep en bovendien alles liet filmen om te verkopen, beweert de vrouw nooit te hebben geweten. Toch wordt ook zij vervolgd, maar dan voor schuldig verzuim.

Volgens speurders is het zo goed als onmogelijk dat een moeder niet ziet dat haar dochters van 9 en 11 al zo lang misbruikt worden. Bovendien gelooft het gerecht niet dat ze zich nooit vragen heeft gesteld waar haar werkloze man al dat geld vandaan haalde om hun woning te laten renoveren.

De vrouw heeft zich intussen zelf burgerlijke partij gesteld en eist een schadevergoeding van T. Ze heeft onmiddellijk na zijn arrestatie de echtscheiding aangevraagd. Opvallend genoeg zijn de meisjes helemaal niet boos op hun papa en missen ze hem zelfs. T. houdt vol dat hij het allemaal goed meende met zijn dochters. Ze droomden van een modellencarrière en hij wilde ze daarbij helpen. De manier waarop is ronduit walgelijk.

Via een advertentie op internet kwam hij in contact met de Italiaanse fotograaf Sergio Marzola, een notoir pedofiel, zo zou later blijken. Hij bood T. aan zijn dochters te fotograferen in lichte zomerkledij. Al na de eerste sessie stelde hij voor om ze in lingerie te kieken. Hij bood daarvoor 250 euro aan.

Bij een volgend bezoek werden, steeds in hetzelfde hotel, naaktfoto’s geschoten. En uiteindelijk pure porno. T. kreeg daarvoor 750 euro, de meisjes hielden er 20 euro aan over.Hun vader bewaarde het geld en hield het ook meestal voor zichzelf.

”We hadden dat geld echt nodig om onze dochters een goede toekomst te kunnen bieden”, probeert de hoofdverdachte zijn vel te redden. Of het allemaal veel zal helpen, is twijfelachtig, want tegen de Bruggeling is de maximumstraf van tien jaar geëist.

Fotograaf Marzola zal in eigen land voor de rechter moeten verschijnen. Zijn rol in deze affaire is zowaar nog veel gruwelijker. Hij had van kinderporno maken en verspreiden zijn hoofdberoep gemaakt. Onderzoek leidde tot de identificatie van 2.500 klanten uit negentien verschillende landen. Zij kozen en bestelden films via het internet.

Sommigen betaalden duizend euro en meer voor een filmpje waarvan ze in grote lijnen zelf het scenario schreven. Met andere woorden, waarin meisjes deden wat de klant het liefst zag.

Bij die klanten onder meer rijke industriëlen, bankiers, maar bijvoorbeeld ook een turnleraar uit Vlaams-Brabant en een Nederlands echtpaar dat het oudste van de twee Brugse zusjes ’inhuurde’ om privéfilmpjes te maken. Ook met die escorteservice verdiende T. grof geld. Na een opdracht betaalde hij zijn dochtertjes met een uitnodiging in een fastfoodrestaurant.

Zonder het puike speurwerk van de kinderpornojagers zouden de Brugse meisjes vandaag wellicht meedraaien in een groot internationaal kinderpornocircuit. Want dat was duidelijk de bedoeling van zowel Sergio Marzola als van Pascal T.

Sergio Marzola had een buitenverblijf gekocht in Oekraïne. Via lokale pooiers had hij een lijst met namen van minderjarige meisjes waarop hij ginder een beroep kon doen om films op te nemen. Ook T. speelde daarin mee. De meisjes kregen tussen vijf en tien euro per draaidag. Ze werden tijdens het onderzoek bijna allemaal geïdentificeerd.

”Het Oekraïense gerecht werkte aanvankelijk erg goed mee en beloofde de meisjes te ondervragen. Maar op een bepaald moment is de samenwerking opgeblazen en kwam er geen informatie meer door. Waarom? Geen idee. Vermoedelijk zijn de collega’s in Oekraïne omgekocht”, zeggen speurders.

"Mes filles n'aimaient rien de plus que de poser nues"

"Certaines poses ont été effectivement libres explicite. Parfois presque vulgaire. Mais mes filles n'en faisaient aucun problème ", dit Pascal T.

Le brugeois est le premier Belge poursuivi pour fabriquer et vente de la pornographie d'enfants. Il a utilisé pour cela ses propres enfants de 9 et de 11 ans.

Pascal T. (37), un homme qui a fait douze métiers et subi treize accidents, est paru mardi dernier au tribunal correctionnel de Bruges. Il devait répondre de production et diffusion de kinderporno dans laquelle est propre filles retardées ont interprété un rôle principal.

Lui-même jouait aussi dedans. Selon le procureur général, c'est la toute première fois dans notre pays qu'un producteur de pédopornographie est jugé. Les filles de T. suivent un enseignement spécial et suivant les psychiatres de la justice, ne se rendent compte de la gravité des faits.

"Mes filles n'aimaient rien de plus que de pouvoir poser", dit le père T. qui lui-même ne se rend pas compte de la gravité des faits. Il a bien présenté ses excuses, mais surtout parce que son avocat le lui a chuchoter.

Même sa propre mère ne se rend pas compte de quel monstre son fils est. Elle a entendu raconter les choses terribles au tribunal sur lui, mais continue pourtant à le soutenir. "Il m'a dit tout ce qui est vus sur ces petits films sont du trucage. Et je crois mon fils, quand il dit cela ", a dit la femme penssionnée.

Le juge reproche l'assistant boucher, la dernière de ses professions, d'avoir utilisé et abusé ses enfants comme biens de consommation. Il louait ses filles parce que lui-même était trop paresseux pour travailler et pour déménager de maison, avec l'argent qu'il gagnait en laissant ses filles abusée par des hommes éhontés. Des pères qui ont peut-être eux-même des enfants.

Joris Van Cauter, avocat du principal suspect, nie que son client un leader d'une bande internationale de porno d'enfants. En outre il plaide les circonstances atténuantes. "Monsieur T. a été abusé sexuellement entre ses cinq et neuf ans de sa vie par un membre de sa famille avec à qui il a gardé de très bonnes relations. Les faits pour lesquels il est maintenant prévenu, tiennent sans doute de cela. J'espére que le juge en tiendra compte finalement."

Pascal T. est possédé depuis des années par le sex, ainsi que l'enquête l'a démontré. Ses ex-amies peuvent en témoigner. La plus part de ses relations ont été rompues justement à cause de son appetit sexuel inssatiable.

"Il a voulait toujours essayer des choses nouvelles", dit la mère de ses deux filles. Mais le fait qu'il ait abusé de ses propres enfants et en plus a tout laissé filmer afin de le vendre, je ne l'ai jamais su, prétend la femme.

Pourtant elle aussi est poursuivie, mais pour non assistance coupable. Selon les enquêteurs, il est tellement impossible qu'une mère ne voit pas que ses filles de 9 et de 11 sont abusées depuis si longtemps.

En outre le tribunal ne croit pas qu'elle n'ait jamais demandé d'où cet homme sans emploi avait obtenu cet argent pour faire rénover leur maison. La femme a entre-temps portée parti civil et exige une indemnisation à T.

Directement après son arrestation, elle a demandé le divorce. Il est remarquable que les filles ne sont pas du tout fâchées contre leur papa et il leur manque même. T. maintient pleinement qu'il a toujours cru bien faire avec ses filles. Elles rêvaient de faire une carrière de modèle et il voulait les aider. La manière utilisée est carrément dégoûtante.

Via une annonce sur l'internet, il est entré en contact avec le photographe Sergio Marzola italien, qui serait apparu ultérieurement être un pédophile notoire. Il a offert à T. de photographier ses filles dans des vêtements légers d'été. Déjà après le première session, il a offert de les photographier en lingerie. Il a offert pour cela 250 euros.

Lors d'une visite suivante, toujours dans le même hôtel, il les a photographié nues. Et finalement, c'est devenu du porno pur. T. a obtenu pour cela 750 euros, les filles ont tenu 20 euros, que leur père gardait le plus souvent pour lui-même.

"Nous avions vraiment besoin de cet argent pouvoir offrir à nos filles un bon avenir ", essaye le principal suspect sauver sa peau. Il est douteux que cet argument aide, car une peine maximale de dix ans a été exigée contre le brugeois.

Le photographe Marzola doit paraître dans propre pays devant le juge. Son rôle dans cette affaire est effectivement encore beaucoup plus atroce.

Il a fait de la réalisation du kinderporno et de sa diffusion sa profession principale. L'enquête a mené à l'identification de 2.500 clients de dix-neuf pays différents. Ils choisissaient et commandaient les films via l'internet. Certains ont payé mille euros et plus pour un petit film dont eux-même avait écrit les grandes lignes du scénario.

En d'autres termes, des films dans lesquel les filles faisaient ce que le client aimait le plus. Chez ces clients, entre autres de riches industriels, des banquiers, mais également un professeur de gymnastique du Brabant flamand et un couple néerlandais qui 'louait' l'aînée des deux soeurs brugeoises pour réaliser eux-même des petits films privés. Aussi, ce service d'escorte rapportait beaucoup d'argent à T.

Après une mission, il payait à ses petites filles une invitation dans un restaurant fastfood. Sans l'excellente enquêtes des chasseurs de porno, les filles brugeoises travailleraient aujourd'hui peut-être dans un grand circuit international de porn ographie d'enfants. Car c'était clairement aussi bien le but de Sergio Marzola que de Pascal T.

Sergio Marzola a acheté une maison de campagne en Ukraine. Il avait, via les maquereau locaux, une liste avec les noms de filles mineures auxquels il pouvait faire appel pour tourner des films. T. a également joué . Les filles reçevait entre cinq et dix euros par jour de tournage. Elle ont presque toutes été identifiés lors de l'enquête.

"Le tribunal ukrénien a, en un premier temps, très bien coopéré et promis d'interroger les filles. Mais à un certain moment la coopération a été gonflée et les informations ne sont plus parvenues. Pourquoi ? Aucune idée. Les collègues en Ukraine ont probablement été corrompus", disent les enquêteurs.
